CGSHE launches Trainee Research Symposium to showcase new student research
The CGSHE Trainee Research Symposium will feature lightening style talks by UBC and SFU trainees about their undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral research projects in areas ranging from public health and social medicine to interdisciplinary studies, followed by a Q&A. It’s great opportunity to learn about what the fantastic CGSHE trainees are working on, join an engaging discussion about gender equity, sexual health and reproductive justice, and network with colleagues.
“Women’s work” and wellbeing:Â Experiences from the frontlines of the COVID-19 response
CGSHE Speaker Series presents CGSHE faculty member Dr. Julia Smith and CGSHE trainee Alice Murage, who will discuss the impact of “women’s work” on women’s well being throughout the global pandemic and how we can learn from experiences of female health care workers and immigrant women in the accommodation and food services industry in BC.
Leaving no one behind in the global sexual health agendaÂ
“Sexual rights and pleasure are missing from the Sustainable Development Goals – and that’s problematic,” said Dr. Carmen Logie, CGSHE faculty member and Peter Wall Visiting Scholar at CGSHE. They are foundational to achieving universal health care and sexual and reproductive health for all globally, and for communities erased from SDG discussions on social inequities –  LGBTQ persons and sex workers – sexual rights are critical to realizing access to universal health.
