Dr. Jane Buxton (she/her)

CGSHE Faculty Member

Dr. Jane Buxton (she/her) is professor and practicum director of the Masters of Public Health program in the School of Population and Public Health at the University of British Columbia, with extensive expertise in community-based research practice guidelines and gender equity. Dr. Buxton chairs the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons specialty committee for public health and preventive medicine, which oversees residency training programs across Canada. Over the past 10 years, she has supervised over 100 students including MSc and PhD students at SPPH and CGSHE. She is investigator on a number of CGSHE research projects and supervises a number of current CGSHE/UBC graduate students. She is engaged in quantitative, qualitative and participatory research with marginalized populations, ensuring affected communities are involved in developing priorities for research, policy and program evaluation.
