CGSHE Faculty Member
Meaghan Thumath is a CGSHE Faculty Member and Clinical Assistant P in the School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia. She has research expertise in gender, sexual health, and drug policy, and is currently researching the impact of child welfare policy on marginalized women’s health.
As an HIV specialist, Meaghan has provided technical assistance to international organizations such as WHO, UNDP, UNAIDS and the World Bank supporting improved access to care for sex workers and people who use drugs in Central Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa. In Canada, she has served as the Chief of Staff (Senior MA) to the Minister of Mental Health and Addiction, as clinical coordinator of Insite and as a street nurse and Senior Practice Leader at the BC Centre for Disease Control. She has won multiple awards for her dedication to improving health equity including an Award for Excellence in Interprofessional Education Teaching at UBC, a British Columbia Premier’s Award Innovation Category, CNA Top 150 Nurses and an Excellence in Nursing Education from the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia.
